Gibraltar Airport Security
It is important to know what items are allowed and which are not allowed before you arrive at the airport. Allow plenty of time to follow security procedures when you arrive at the airport.
Please follow these tips:
Required Documents
Passports are required by all visitors to Gibraltar, except EU nationals who are in possession of a valid national identity card. As a general rule, those persons who require a visa for entry into the United Kingdom will also require a separate visa for entry to Gibraltar.
Passport control
For all passengers arriving in Gibraltar your first call after stepping off the plane is passport control.
There are two separate queues for:
Gibraltar Customs
Everyone arriving at Gibraltar has to clear Customs. There are two different channels available red or green.
You should use the red channel if you have any goods to declare or the green channel if you do not.
Hold baggage rules
It make sense to always put as much as you can in your hold baggage (these are bags you check-in). You’ll have less to carry through the airport and passing through security will be quicker.
Please note that there are several items that you are allowed to carry in hold luggage that you are not allowed to carry onboard with you in your hand luggage.
Hand baggage rules
Our general advice is to carry the very minimum of hand baggage, and to make sure you arrive early at the airport and allow plenty of time for security screening.
Baggage restrictions
Stringent security measures are in place at all UK airports.
One of the most important things you can do is make sure you fully understand all the rules on baggage – what you are allowed to carry in your hand baggage, what you should put in your checked luggage – and what you should never take on the aircraft.
